MSI GT780R

These laptops aimed at all you gamers out there have been designed in partnership with the gaming peripherals maker Steelseries. Both have an Intel Sandy Bridge Core i7 processor clocked 2GHz.

They are both pretty beastly size, sporting full HD 17.3in anti-reflective screens with 1920x1080 resolution. Both have Dynaudio speakers with a built-in subwoofer and THX Trustudio Pro for cinema quality surround sound.

Graphics cards are where the two differ slightly, with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 560M with 1.5GB of RAM in the GT780R and a slightly less impressive but still respectable Nvidia GeForce GT555M with 1GB of RAM in the GX780.

From the MSI product pages we gather that the GT780R has 16GB of RAM whilst the GX780 has less at 12GB. The GT780R also has a larger hard drive at 1TB compared to the GX780's 750GB.

Both have USB 3.0 and HDMI ports and feature MSI's Turbo Drive Engine technology, which MSI said "provides a boost in graphics performance to accelerate video decoding and add extra excitement to your gaming".

Both are the same size and weight, measuring about 55mm thick and weighing just under 4kg.

Steelseries keyboard supports 10-key simultaneous input, for those moments when you're required to mash the keyboard with all you've got, and customisable LED backlights reminiscent of Alienware's gaming laptops.
